Makeup
I have been asked many times how I hide by beard shadow, the way I do it is with a close shave and quality makeup. I highly recommend using a Mach III razor, it gives the closest shave of any razor I've tried. For my foundation I use MAC full coverage foundation (pictured at right), it's a bit pricey but for the money goes farther than the cheaper brands, so it balances out in the long run. For those of you who cannot find a MAC retailer, then I suggest Max Factor Pan-Stick(Pictured at right), it can be found at any Major department store and at most Chain store pharmacies. It looks like a big blue lipstick holder. Many girls try to use the liquid foundation, let me tell you as a friend once told me "Cover Girl does not cover boy!" Liquid foundation works great for a soft womans face, but it's not made to cover a male beard shadow.
After you have put on your foundation cover your entire face with loose powder, don't be stingy, cover your face very liberally and let that sit for about 5 minutes to let your foundation set. For loose powder I use COTY Airspun Powder, it can be found and any major drugstore. After I have let it set, I them brush it all off using a wide brush. Then I start my contouring, for instructions on how to contour please click here.
After I have done the contouring, I start on doing my eyes. If you are just starting out I would suggest you go buy a gift set such as the one to the right. That way you can experiment with colors and it will not cost you an arm and a leg (side note, if you are over 20 years old, blue is not a good color for you). After you have done your eyeshadow apply your eyeliner. It will be difficult the first few times especially if you do not wear contacts because you are not use to having anything near your eyes. I would suggest, in order to get accustomed to having things near your eyes, you need to just hold your index finger as close as you can to your eye. Stop when it becomes uncomfortable to you, after you get used to that, move a little closer. Keep doing that til you can touch your eye. I know it sounds crazy but I promise you that it works! Now that you have your eyeshadow and liner applied you need to apply mascara. I use a two stage mascara that lengthens your lash before you apply the mascara itself. It is kind of like applying primer to a car before you paint it. There are many different types and I have no personal favorite. I have pictured an example to the right.
After I have finished my eyes I then apply my blush. Once again I recommend the makeup set til you discover what colors look best on you. The way I do that is I suck in my cheeks and then apply the blush the the area that is still exposed in a sweeping motion toward my ears. After I have it applied I then take the palm on my hand and rub the blush in the same upward motion in order to get it properly blended.
Now you are ready for your lips. Your need to line the outside of your lips prior to applying your lipstick. That will give the appearance of richer, fuller lips. You can use any color you wish but a good rule of thumb is to go a shade or two darker than your lipstick. Alot of times I actually use eyeliner to line my lips but that is completely up to you. After you have lined your lips apply your makeup. I'm sure all of you have watched enough women apply lipstick that there is no need for me to go into detail about that.
Now then, you should have your makeup completely on. All you need to do it to lightly go over your entire face with pressed powder. Make sure you keep your pressed powder as well as your lipstick and lipliner in your purse at all times as you will need to constantly refresh your makeup all night.
I hope this helps!!!!!! |
